Sevilla are hoping Liverpool win the Champions League final

Sevilla have a million reasons to support Liverpool…

There is rarely ever such a thing as a “neutral” when it comes to a Champions League final.

For example, most Manchester United and Everton fans will be supporting Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final in Kiev.

Whilst Barcelona supporters will be behind Liverpool as Real Madrid go for a 13th Champions League (European Cup).

Spanish newspaper AS have confirmed that Sevilla, as a club, are backing Liverpool to win the Champions League final as it will boost the finances of the La Liga side.

Sevilla will earn from Alberto Moreno’s transfer to Liverpool

If Liverpool beat Real Madrid, Sevilla will earn another one million euros from the transfer of Alberto Moreno.

Moreno was sold to Liverpool in the summer of 2014 for 18 million euros, plus 2 million euros in incentives.

Liverpool agreed to pay Sevilla one million euros in the event Alberto Moreno won the Premier League or Champions League.

Alberto Moreno: Liverpool’s second choice left back

To activate the clause, Moreno had to play over 50 per cent of Liverpool’s matches in the competition and the Spaniard has appeared 10 times in the Champions League this season.

So, despite the fact Andrew Robertson will surely start for Liverpool in Kiev, Moreno has comfortably made the cut.

AS also reveal that Sevilla were keen on re-signing Moreno this past summer but negotiations did not progress very far.

Liverpool played two epic games vs Sevilla

It feels like a long time ago now, but Liverpool and Sevilla were in the same group in the Champions League this season.

In September, Sevilla bagged a 2-2 draw at Anfield. Whilst in November, Sevilla pulled off an epic comeback to draw 3-3 at home, having been 3-0 down.

Sevilla would go onto knock out Manchester United in the Champions League knockout rounds, eventually losing to Bayern Munich.
