Jamie Redknapp says Chelsea fans should view Eden Hazard as one of the club’s greats – even if he leaves to sign for Real Madrid in the summer.

Since signing for the Blues in 2012 from Lille, Hazard has scored 87 goals in 284 games for Chelsea and helped the club win two Premier League titles.

The Belgian forward has been Antonio Conte‘s stand-out player this season with 15 goals and four assists to his name, and his form could well attract the attention of Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane is a known admirer of Hazard and Real Madrid have been repeatedly linked with a move for the 27-year-old over the past two years.

Redknapp, the former England midfielder, believes Hazard ranks alongside the likes of Chelsea legends Frank Lampard and John Terry at Stamford Bridge.

But he fears that the Belgium superstar could be on his way to Spain this summer, with Real bound to be taking note of his run of performances for the reigning Premier League champions.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp said: ‘His levels are so high. I don’t know what the future of Eden Hazard will be.

‘But I think the Chelsea fans – once he’s gone – will put him as one of the greats, alongside John Terry and Frank Lampard. He’s been amazing for English football.

‘I do fear that he leaves in the summer, I have a feeling that Real Madrid will come in for him.

‘You’re looking at a player who’s producing special moments every time he gets on the field – he’s at that level now.’

Hazard scored twice as Chelsea secured a routine victory over relegation-strugglers West Brom on Monday evening. The win eases the pressure on under fire manager Conte.

The Blues face Hull City in the FA Cup on Friday, before they turn their attentions to the first leg of their Champions League showdown with Barcelona.
